Box Score

Stanford, Calif. - In a match that traditionally decides the Pac-10 Championship in women's soccer, third-ranked UCLA and Stanford played to a 0-0 draw Friday evening before 1,016 fans at Stanford's Maloney Field. With the tie, UCLA moves to 9-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in Pac-10 play. Stanford checks in at 6-6-2 and 1-1-1 in conference action.

UCLA outshot Stanford, 24-14 on the evening, coming away with a majority of the scoring opportunities. Bruin senior Lindsay Greco had the best scoring chance of the match, hitting the crossbar on a second-half blast that made it over the out-stretched hands of Stanford goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart. The ball fell back into play and was cleared by a Cardinal defender. Senior midfielder Sarah-Gayle Swanson also had an excellent scoring opportunity in the second overtime period. A high bouncing ball was sent into the Stanford box and Bruin forward Iris Mora ran onto it and was able to head it away from Barnhart, giving Swanson a shot that went just left of the post.

Stacy Lindstrom, Stephanie Kron, Lindsay Greco and Mora paced the Bruins with three shots apiece. Cardinal forward Natalie Sanderson led her team with five shots.

Barnhart had a match-high seven saves on the evening. UCLA's starting goalkeeper Sarah Lombardo had five. The Bruins also had 11 corner kicks compared to just three for Stanford.

Friday marked the first time the Bruins were held scorless in nine matches. The last time the Bruins failed to score was a 0-0 tie with Santa Barbara on Sept. 3.

UCLA will continue its Bay Area road swing this Sunday when it travels to Berkeley for a 1:00 p.m. match with Cal.
