LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's soccer team will build on its winning tradition with the addition of six all-area selections and California State Travel Team members.
Krista Boling (defender/ Presentation HS, San Jose, CA) a 1997-98 Parade All-American leads the way for the Bruins. Joining her is her twin sister Breana Boling (forward/ midfielder/ Presentation HS), an all-league player. The dynamic duo will provide a spark to both UCLA's offense and defense.
The Boling twins are joined by fellow club teammate at Central Valley Mercury Staci Nicole Duncan (forward/ Archbishop Mitty HS, San Jose, CA). Duncan, who once scored four goals in a club playoff game, is an all-league selection. Duncan and the Bolings led their club team to two national championships.
The Bruins also signed two All-CIF selections, Vanessa Lynn Clark (halfback/ Upland HS, Upland, CA), a versatile player who can step in at any position, and Lauren Emblem (Midfielder/ Torrey Pines HS, Encinitas, CA), who helped lead Torrey Pines HS to the CIF Division II Championship in 1995. Rounding out the Southern California contingent is Arcadia high school's Courtney Corso (forward/midfielder/ Arcadia, CA), a first-team all-league selection.
Head Coach Todd Saldana is very pleased with UCLA's incoming freshmen, saying, "This years recruiting class has club national champions, Parade All-Americans, vast ODP experience and outstanding club experience. The vacancies due to graduation have been filled by a talented, versatile group that will help lead us in establishing UCLA as one of the premier programs in the national college soccer scene."
