ALBUQUERQUE, NM --- The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is proud to announce the 10 men, including UCLA senior Jason Kapono, and 10 women semi-finalists for the Creamland Dairies Men's & Women's Collegiate Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Prior to the start of the season, every NCAA Division I school had the opportunity to nominate its men and women student-athletes for this award that recognizes student-athletes for their athletic and academic achievement as well as community involvement.
"The process of selection was extremely difficult because of the many exceptional nominees, but we are extremely proud of the 20 individuals who made our semi-finalist list," said Dan Ballou, Director of Sports Marketing for ACVB. "We are pleased that our semi-finalists represent all regions of the country, and a diverse group of conferences, from the Ivy League to the Pac-10. The student-athletes on the list all have outstanding credentials and the selection of the three finalists is going to be another difficult task, but one that will be very rewarding."
The following are the 10 men and 10 women semi-finalists for the Creamland Dairies Men's & Women's Collegiate Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year:

- Loree Payne, Washington

- Anne Tierney, Lehigh
- Latoya Thomas, Mississippi St.
"As you can see from the list, we have some of the nation's leading scorers and rebounders, and nominees from teams ranked in the top five in the country for both men and women," said Ballou.
Three finalists will be named during the NCAA basketball tournaments and will be present in Albuquerque, NM on April 9, 2003 at the awards banquet to be held at the Albuquerque Marriott Hotel. Jimmy Dykes, College Basketball Analyst for ESPN will emcee the events.
