LOS ANGELES - The third-ranked UCLA women's soccer team earned at least a share of the 2003 Pac-10 title Sunday, downing crosstown rival USC, 2-0 at UCLA's Drake Stadium. The Bruins, who also earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the win, improve to 14-1-3 overall and 6-0-1 in Pac-10 play. USC drops to 7-7-4 overall and 3-3-1 in conference action.

Following a scoreless first 45 minutes of play, UCLA came out and scored immediately in the second half, as Lindsay Greco put the Bruins ahead 1-0 just about a minute and a half after play resumed. Greco received a cross from the right side off the foot of Iris Mora, slipping it past USC goalkeeper Julie Peterson. With that assist, Mora set the UCLA single-season record for assists with 12 this year.

The Bruins would strike again in the 65th minute when Mora headed in a cross from Bruin defender Kendal Billingsley. Mora, who has led the Bruins in scoring for most of the year, currently has a team best 30 points (9g, 12a).

The Bruins outshot the Women of Troy, 17-2 and were led by Mora and sophomore Jill Oakes, who each had three.

UCLA improves its overall record against USC to 12-2-1. The Bruins have won six out of the last seven against USC and have shutout the Women of Troy in the last three meetings. UCLA has not lost to USC since 1998.

Sunday was Senior Day for six Bruin seniors playing in their final regular-season home match. Nandi Pryce, Kathryn Lee, Sarah-Gayle Swanson, Whitney Jones, Jaclyn Harwood, Katherine Bjazevich and undergraduate assistant coach Jessica Stamp were honored prior to the match.

UCLA can win the Pac-10 title outright with at least one victory in its final two matches. The Bruins travel to Oregon this Friday to take on Oregon State at 3:00 p.m. UCLA will face Oregon on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The NCAA seedings and tournament draw will be announced on Monday, Nov. 10.
