Little Named to Soccer America's Team Of The Week

Sept. 15, 1999

LOS ANGELES - Senior defender Skylar Little was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 6-12.

Little earned Tournament MVP honors at the Nike-Wake Forest Invitational this past weekend after helping the Bruins post two shutout victories against North Carolina-Charlotte and then-ranked No. 25 Wake Forest. Against UNC-Charlotte, she was instrumental in the 7-0 victory, helping to limit the 49ers to only four shots on goal. Prior to their match with the Bruins, the 49ers averaged 19 shots on goal per game and registered an impressive 56-16 shots on goal advantage over opponents. Against the host Demon Deacons, Little led the UCLA defense to its third shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory, helping to limit Wake Forest to only five shots on goal. Before meeting the Bruins, the then-undefeated Deacs had recorded three shutouts and outscored opponents 12-1 in their first four games.

In her four years at UCLA, Skylar Little has played a key role in UCLA's nationally recognized defense. Last year, she started all 22 games and helped lead UCLA to a school record 11 shutouts. She is continuing in that fashion this year, having started all four of UCLA's games this season and having played the entire 90 minutes in all but one game in which the Bruins had secured the victory.
