WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA sophomore forward Iris Mora has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 21-Oct. 27, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Mora, from Cancun, Mexico, helped lead No. 3/4 UCLA to victories over then No. 25 Arizona State and Arizona. In the match against Arizona State on Oct. 24, Mora scored the game-winning goal and notched two assists en route to a 4-1 Bruin win. The following game versus Arizona, Mora again scored the decisive goal this time in the 14th minute on a header from seven yards out. UCLA went on to win 4-0.
UCLA advanced its overall record to 12-1-3 to remain undefeated in Conference play at 5-0-1. This week the Bruins rank No. 3 in the NSCAA/Adidas poll, and No. 4 by Soccer America. The Bruins have outscored their opponents 9-1 in the previous four matches and 19-5 since their lone loss to No. 1 North Carolina back on Sept. 19.
This is Mora's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and UCLA's 10th weekly honor all-time.
