LOS ANGELES - The third-ranked UCLA men's soccer team shut out San Diego 2-0 Friday night to record its fifth consecutive shutout.
Sophomore midfielder Shaun Tsakiris scored his second game-winner of the season in the 34th minute, rocketing a shot from 25 yards out. Senior forward Seth George put the game away in the 81st minute on a fast break opportunity. George's goal extends his point scoring streak to eight games (including one game last season) for the 6-1 Bruins. His goal Friday was his 40th career goal, moving him into a tie with Ante Razov for ninth place on UCLA's all-time career goals scored list.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Rimando recorded the shutout, his fourth solo and sixth overall of the season. He made a career-high six saves on eight San Diego shots.
The Bruins will next face Loyola Marymount Sunday, Oct. 4 at UCLA's North Athletic Field at 2:00 pm.
