Adams Lifts Bruins Past Waves, 2-1

Malibu, Calif. - Down 1-0 at the half, the fourth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team rallied for two second-half goals and eventually held on to defeat No. 10 Pepperdine, 2-1 Sunday at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. The Bruins, who extend their winning streak to six, improve to 10-1 on the year. It marked the first loss of the season for the Waves, who are now 9-1-1 overall.

Sophomore midfielder Danesha Adams scored both UCLA goals within minutes of each other. Junior Bristyn Davis assisted on the first strike on a breakaway in the 64th minute. Senior Iris Mora set Adams up for her second goal of the afternoon on another breakaway in the 67th minute. Adams continues to lead the Bruins in scoring this season as she now has 21 points on 10 goals and one assist.

Pepperdine's lone goal on the day came in the 17th minute on a shot by Lindsey Redlin. Megan Woods was credited with the assist.

UCLA goalkeeper Valerie Henderson got the nod in goal, making four saves while playing the full 90 minutes. Pepperdine goalkeeper Anna Picarelli finished with a match-high five saves.

UCLA leads the all-time series with Pepperdine, 9-2. The Waves won the first two meetings of the series, however the Bruins have dominated recently winning nine in a row. Sunday marked the first goal given up to Pepperdine since 2001.

The Bruins return home next week, hosting cross-town rival USC on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
