Up Next . . .
The No. 9 UCLA women's tennis team ends its two-week hiatus on Friday against Arizona and on Saturday against No. 7 Arizona State. Both matches are at noon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins split versus the Arizona schools last month, falling to Arizona State 4-3 before beating Arizona the following day by the same score. ASU comes into the match at 7-3 overall, 1-0 Pac-10. Arizona is 4-6 overall, 0-1 Pac-10. The weekend starts a four-match homestand that puts UCLA against three of the top seven teams in the nation. The Bruins face No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 Cal next weekend.

Bruins Wrangle Longhorns . . .
UCLA's last match was on March 11 at home against No. 17 Texas. The Bruins' 6-1 victory began when they swept the doubles matches, knocking off Texas' national-No. 19 duo of Ziva Grasic and Kendra Strohm, 8-3. UCLA won all its singles matches in straight sets, completing its last intersectional match of the regular season.

Youth Serves at UCLA . . .
Six of the seven freshmen on UCLA's roster have played in and won matches during the dual-match season. In addition, sophomore Anya Loncaric, who did not see dual-match action last year, has a regular spot in the starting six. UCLA's seven freshmen are the most in the Pac-10.

Bruins Hold Top-10 Status in Rankings . . .
The first rankings of the 2003 dual-match season to be tabulated by computer moved the Bruins down a slot to No. 9 overall. UCLA's schedule includes seven of its fellow top-10 teams, as well as three other teams in the top-25. Sara Walker is No. 9 in the country, while Jackie Carleton is No. 28 and Susi Wild is No. 69.
