Elisabeth Bachman of the UCLA women's volleyball team has been invited to train for the 1999 World University Games, to be held July 2-10 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The team will train from May 15-June 12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., and will be coached by Jim Stone.
The final 12-member team will be named before June 13, when the squad travels to compete against Canada's national team.
Bachman, a 6-3 middle blocker from Lakeville, Minn., is among eighteen other collegiate women to have been invited. Bachman has previously trained with USA Volleyball and competed in the 1997 World University Games, where Team USA captured the silver medal.
