Final Stats

TOWSON, Md. - UCLA's longest road trip of the season continued in winning fashion on Tuesday night in Towson, Md., as the Bruins (10-0) swept Towson University 32-20, 30-23, 30-25. Senior middle blocker Nana Meriwether and sophomore Ali Daley shared the team lead in kills with 13 apiece in the match.

Meriwether opened the match with four kills on 10 attacks in the opening game of the match. The nation's attack percentage leader, Meriwether hit .462 for the match, adding three block assists for 14.5 points in the contest. Daley shared the team-high with four kills in that opening game, and assisted on UCLA's only block of the first game.

UCLA held a slim lead through much of the opening game, but the Tigers hung in the match and had it tied at 30-30 before a Katie Carter kill and a Tiger attack error gave UCLA the 32-30 opening game win.

In game two, Meriwether hit .714 with six kills and one error on seven swings as the Bruins hit .345 as a team in the game. Towson held an early lead, but a Jordan Smith service ace gave UCLA the lead for good at 3-2 as UCLA went on to a relatively easy 30-23 game victory.

Although UCLA led throughout the third game of the match, Towson fought hard, tying the score as late as 21-21 before the Bruins finished off the match with a 30-25 win. Daley was UCLA's kill leader with six kills on 11 error-free attacks for a .545 attack percentage while Meriwether and Emily Clements combined for the Bruins only block of the game.

UCLA out-dug the Tigers 56-45 and out-blocked them 11-8 en route to its 10th straight victory. This is UCLA's longest season-opening winning streak since the 1993 season when the Bruins opened the year with 20 consecutive victories.

The Bruins will remain in Maryland for this weekend's Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt Invitational, which is hosted by the University of Maryland. UCLA opens tournament play against Florida International on Friday before facing Long Island and the host Terrapins on Saturday.
