COLORADO SPRINGS - The UCLA women's volleyball team is ranked third in the USA Today/College Sports Television (CSTV) preseason coaches poll. The Bruins were ranked fifth in the final USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll last season. UCLA returns five starters in addition to libero Chrissie Zartman for the 2004 season. The Bruins open their 2004 season on Sept. 1 at Cal State Northridge. UCLA's 2004 schedule features 10 opponents ranked in the top-25 of this poll, including top-ranked defending NCAA Champion USC, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Washington, No. 9 Pepperdine, No. 10 California, No. 13 Hawai'i, No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 17 Arizona, No. 22 Santa Clara and No. 24 Utah. The Bruins also travel to BYU, a team that received votes in the poll. UCLA was one of six teams from the Pacific-10 Conference in the poll.
