UCLA Head Coach Bob Toledo
"We came back after two very tough weeks and had some distractions this week. I felt that our players gave us a great effort and I'm really sorry that we came up short. The guys who had to fill in today rose to the occasion and played well."
"We had a play where we were trying to block a punt and roughed the punter and they got a touchdown out of it. We ran an option play to the goal line and had holding called, and only got a field goal out of that play."
"At the end, after the interception, I didn't feel like we wanted to throw on that last drive. We had driven the ball pretty well to that point and I didn't want to make a bad play. We were going to win or lose with a field goal."
"It is extremely tough to win six games in a row, then lose three. I've told our kids that they put out a great effort today and we just need to get ready to play USC next week."
"Difficult. Any time coming off loss esp. put forth great effort we were one point short of beagint them. Lot of time effort short hurts. Gave them too many plays didn't make enough plays."
Had he thought about going for two points instead of the extra point on UCLA's last TD?
"We talked about going for two, but felt that it was too early, since it was early in the fourth quarter. We felt that there were going to be a lot more points scored in the game, but all of a sudden it was a stalemate."
Oregon Coach Mike Belotti
"It was a tough game. They ran the ball well. They made some adjustments but we handled them well. I'm pleased with the outcome. We forced them to kick a 50-yard field goal, which made me feel pretty good."
"Maurice Morris did a great job running the ball despite having an injured hamstring. Overall, I'm pleased with the victory. Give credit to UCLA, they battled."
"It's nice to control our own destiny [in bowl selection]. We have to win the Civil War (vs. Oregon State). We can talk about (the Fiesta Bowl) now. For the next three weeks, we're going to prepare for Oregon State like it's a bowl game. In that three-week period, we'll work on special teams."
About Chris Griffith's 50-yard attempt at the game winning field goal
"I just said a prayer on the sideline. It shows the parity in the conference when you have games like this. [Griffith's] longest career field goal was 49 yards, so I felt pretty good about our chances. Any field goal over 42 yards you have to say that the percentage goes down. If he makes the field goal, they deserve to win."
