First of all, the Kansas game. We really had a good approach and a good week of preparation for this football game. Our kids were extremely focused and I think it showed during the course of the game. We won on the road again so we can get that monkey off our back hopefully. We appeared to be a physical football team and that is something I've been trying to preach. I want to be able to run the ball and I want to be able to stop the run. I want to be physical. One of the things we did is we came from behind again. We're used to doing that and hopefully we can cut that our real quick. We had some sudden-change situations and that's when there is a turnover that takes place. We had a fumble that we converted into a touchdown. We had an interception that we ran back for a touchdown. Then we had another interception that we converted into a touchdown as well. So from a sudden-change standpoint we were good. Offensively, we fumbled the ball, our defense went in and it was three downs and out. We fumbled another one, one down, they fumbled and we recovered. And then the third time we fumbled and it was later in the game and they scored a touchdown. The thing that I was probably most disappointed about is that we had too many penalties and too many fumbles. We went from one extreme to another in one week so we need to correct that. We did score 41 points and had 468 yards total. We passed for 68%, we had 53% third-down efficiency and that's something we need to improve upon. Defensively, we did a heck-of-a job. We had our starters in there and they only had one drive the whole game and that was just before half. They were a little tired in that drive, but they scored. We had sacks, we had turnovers, we had a lot of pressure, we played hard and I thought our defensive football team did a nice job.

About the upcoming game against Arizona State, they are 1-0. They beat San Diego State, 38-7. They have a new staff. It's the same staff basically that was at Boise State when we played them a couple of years ago. In watching their video, they are doing a lot of the same things they did when he (Dirk Koetter) was at Boise. Last year I think they lead the nation in total offense. They do a great job. They have a lot of experience returning. I believe they have eight starters on defense and six starters on offense. They have a lot of team speed and they have some big-play kind of guys. Offensively, they are very balanced. They ran the ball about as much as they threw it. (Jeff) Krohn had a fantastic game. He's improved tremendously from a year ago. He's really developed into a nice quarterback. They have a lot of formations, a lot of motion, just a lot of things and they do them really well. Defensively, they are kind of an eight-man front, attacking type team. Obviously they are going to put a lot of guys on the line of scrimmage to try and stop DeShaun (Foster) and stop the running game. It's something that we have to be prepared for. It's a Pac-10 opener and as I tell our football team, everyone is tied for first right now. The one that wins goes to first, the one that loses goes to last.

As far as an injury update, (Ken) Kocher and (Stephen) Sua will see limited practice during the course of the week but will both be ready to play. (Ed) Ieremia-Stansbury has an ankle sprain. He's probably questionable right now and we'll have to wait and see what happens during the week.

The game captain this week will be Brian Poli-Dixon. He's from Arizona. Our players of the game last week, offensively we picked Troy Danoff. Our offensive line did a nice job of opening up some holes. Defensively we picked Robert Thomas. Robert played a lot of plays and played extremely well. He caused a fumble and made a lot of tackles. Our special teams player was Jeff Grau, our longsnapper.
