LOS ANGELES (AP) - UCLA swingman Rico Hines will not play in the NCAA tournament's round of 16 after injuring his left knee in a victory over top-seeded Cincinnati last week.

The 6-foot-5 senior took an MRI that showed torn cartilage but no ligament damage, the school said Tuesday.

He will begin a week of rehabilitation and will miss Thursday night's game in San Jose, where the Bruins (21-11) play Missouri (23-11) in the third round of the West Regional.

If the Bruins win, Hines will not play Saturday against Arizona or Oklahoma. There's a chance Hines could play March 30 in Atlanta if UCLA advances to the Final Four.

Hines played in 29 of UCLA's 32 games, averaging 1.1 points in 16.2 minutes.

He scored a season-high seven points in 16 minutes in UCLA's 80-58 first-round victory over Mississippi. He played four scoreless minutes before being injured in the first half of the 105-101 double overtime victory over Cincinnati.
