WESTWOOD, Calif. - The UCLA women's soccer program inked seven top players during the national letter of intent signing period, three of whom have already had the opportunity to work with Bruin head coach Jillian Ellis as members of the U.S. Under-16 National Team.

The Bruins signed Kathryn Lee (defender/Lincoln HS/Stockton, CA), Jessica Stamp (central midfielder/Klein HS/Klein, TX) and Sarah-Gayle Swanson (forward/J.K. Mullen Christian Brothers' College Prep/ Denver, CO), who were members of the U.S. Under-16 National Team for which Ellis served as assistant coach this past summer.

Swanson is currently on the U.S. Under-18 National Team. A Parade high school All-American and all-state selection, she helped her club team, the Colorado Rush, capture the under-17 national championship title this past summer.

Lee, an All-CIF selection, led her club team, the Stockton Cougars, to four league championships. A solid defender with a great understanding of the game, her addition to the team should help ease the loss of sweeper Skylar Little, who finished her eligibility this past season.

Stamp, a high school All-American, is a solid player whose hard-work ethic and leadership should make a positive impact on the program. Also signing with the Bruins were Victoria Bloom (forward/El Modena HS/Orange, CA), Lindsay Greco (forward-midfielder/Capistrano Valley HS/Mission Viejo, CA), Jaclyn Harwood (goalkeeper/Monte Vista HS/Danville, CA) and Michelle Mangiardi (midfielder-forward/Mission San Jose HS/Fremont, CA).

Bloom, an All-CIF selection, is a member of the prestigious Southern California Blues club team. One of the fastest players in Southern California, she figures to compete for a starting position up front or at the midfield wing.

Greco, a 5-5 forward/midfielder and All-CIF selection, is also a member of the Southern California Blues club team. A leading goal-scorer in the South Coast League, she helped lead Capistrano Valley HS to three league championships from 1997-99.

Harwood is one of the top goalkeepers coming out of Northern California. An All-CIF selection, she is solid goalkeeper with a good kicking game and will vie for a starting position on the squad.

Mangiardi, an All-CIF selection, is a gifted player with great pace and versatility who possesses a tremendous potential for growth "I'm extremely excited with the players that have committed to play here," Ellis said. "Overall this class gives us tremendous depth and versatility.

We have some outstanding players coming in and, collectively, I think we have one of the best recruiting classes in the country. We have a nice blend of different positions and I'm extremely pleased."
