UCLA Women's Soccer Inks Four

LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's soccer coach Jillian Ellis announced the signing of four outstanding players to letters of intent Wednesday. All four have represented the United States at the Youth National Team level and will be eligible to compete in the upcoming 2002 season.

The four signees are: Jill Oakes (West Hills, CA/Harvard-Westlake HS), Stacy Lindstrom (Laguna Niguel, CA/Aliso Niguel HS), Allie True (Alamo, CA/Monte Vista HS) and Katie Rivera (Mission Viejo, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic HS).

"Player for player I would rate this class among the best in the country," said Ellis. "It's a group of players with a lot of experience and they will no doubt make an immediate impact on our program. I'm extremely excited on their choices to attend UCLA."

Jill Oakes - MF/D
One of only two high school players on the Under-21 U.S. National Team, which won the prestigious Nordic Cup in August ... Scored the game-tying goal against Germany in the semifinals, helping the U.S. earn a spot in the final against Sweden ... Started in Team USA's 6-1 victory in the final ... Played in nine matches with the Under-19 U.S. squad in 2001 and will be competing for spot on U-19 World Cup team ... The only high school player nominated for U.S. Soccer's Young Athlete of the Year Award ... 2001 NSCAA/adidas Under-17 Youth All-American ... First-team All-CIF selection and CIF Defensive Player of the Year in 2001.

Stacy Lindstrom - MF
2002 Parade All-American ... Graduating from high school a year early to join UCLA next fall ... Member of Under-18 and 19 U.S. National Teams ... Will be competing for a spot on Under-19 World Cup team ... 2001 NSCAA/adidas Under-16 Youth All-American ... First-team All-CIF selection ... Played club soccer for the Southern California Blues.

Allie True - MF
One of the top players in Northern California ... Member of the Under-19 U.S. National Team ... Will be competing for spot on the Under-19 U.S. World Cup team ... 2001 NSCAA/adidas High School All-American ... National ODP player since U14s.

Katie Rivera - F
Member of Under-19 U.S. National Team Pool ... First-team All-CIF selection ... Missed her senior season of high school soccer due to a torn ACL ... Would have been competing for a spot on the U-19 World Cup team ... Hoping to be back at full strength by next fall ... Plays for the Southern California Blues Soccer Club.
