UCLA Head Coach Bob Toledo
"It's becoming a great rivalry. It's disappointing; we had a chance to kick the field goal and win the game. There are several plays that help you win, and several that help you lose. I'm disappointed in aspects of the kicking game. Offensively, we had a lot of big plays, established a little bit of a running game in the second half. Defensively, we struggled early. They made plays that hit us hard, but all in all, the kids played hard and bounced back."
(On the fake field goal attempt in the fourth quarter that did not result in a first-down): "It was a high-scoring football game. We practiced it, we thought we had it, but they tackled Marcedes (Lewis), and it was not a good play. We thought it was an opportune time to do it; we didn't think they'd be ready for it. Any time you run a fake, you're open to criticism."
(On the missed field goal in the fourth quarter): "We thought it was a little low, but Chris (Griffith) felt it was good. Mark Weber, who coaches our kicking team, thought he (Griffith) was standing flat-footed."
(On Oregon's 59-yard field goal in the second quarter): "Talk about a chain of events. We thought it was pass interference, and it wasn't. It's just one of those things."
(On Craig Bragg, was Oregon overlooking him?): "I didn't think so. Craig has had big games before. Both he and (Tab) Perry are big players. Oregon plays man-to-man, and your guy has to beat your guy. We had a good day with our wide receivers."
(On moving past the loss): "They've set a goal to put the last game behind us and to look forward to the upcoming game. Right now the kids are hurt, and the coaches are hurt, but we're going to bounce back Monday and look forward to playing Cal."
Oregon Head Coach Mike Belotti
"Obviously, these were two very good football teams, and they were very evenly matched. I told our team that to win on the road we have to play better than the home team. I'm amazed that the game came down to the same ending as last year's game."
(On quarterback Jason Fife): "Jason's ability to scramble is a decision-maker. The evolution of Jason Fife is fun to watch, and he's doing a very good job."
"All week I thought that we would have the opportunity to block a field goal or an extra point. When it happened, even though UCLA was ahead, I thought it would be a big factor in the outcome of the game."
(On the 59-yard field goal): "We needed a little boost, and I thought that it would help fire us up for the second half."
"Onterrio (Smith) is a very good running back. On the last series, he knew we needed first downs, and he got them for us."
"In the Pac-10, I think it's still a close race, and you can't count anyone out. We just have to focus on the Ducks."
"Special teams and turnovers determined who won this game."
"UCLA is a very good team. I was impressed with their defense."
