UCLA Head Coach Steve Lavin
"They got inside. Today, they came out and really established the paint. They got down low and took high percentage shots early."
"Across the board, Cal was sharp and played with great intensity. We expected that from them from watching Arizona and Oregon."
"I think we played poorly tonight. Cal played exceptionally well. If we want to do anything this season we need to play with more intelligence and intensity."
On the injury to Shantay Legans:
"It was so far away from me. I didn't see the replay. It was a very unfortunate incident. Hopefully, Shantay will play Saturday. I don't know what happened other than he got knocked to the floor."
California Head Coach Ben Braun
"It was a pretty big win for us. I think we did a great job on Jason Kapono. We did a great job defensively holding UCLA to 18 points in the first half. We certainly shut them down defensively. In our biggest game of the year, our team showed up."
"Brian Wethers was terrific tonight. I think this was one of his best games today."
"We set the tone defensively. We didn't give them easy baskets. We did all the things we needed to do to beat UCLA. What a great team effort. Our fans were outstanding, as they always are. It looks like it's now going to be a big USC-Cal showdown Saturday for Senior Day. I don't think a senior could ask for a better scenario."
On Shantay Legans:
"He'd been knocked out and they're going to take him in for a check up. He's okay, but when he hit the floor, he was not good at all. It was frustration. It was a moment when he (Matt Barnes) lost his cool. Let's just hope Shantay recovers. I think he Matt lost his composure and I hope he learns from that."
