LOS ANGELES - The preseason No. 1-ranked UCLA women's soccer team will have at least three televised home matches in 2006, as both ESPNU and Fox Sports Net are scheduled to air early-season contests from Frank W. Marshall Field at Drake Stadium.
The first match scheduled for TV will be the Bruins' Sept. 8 showdown with Texas A&M as part of the UCLA Women's Cup. Fox Sports Net will air the match tape-delayed at a date still yet to be determined. The second day of the tournament (Sept. 10) features a pair of live broadcasts by ESPNU. The first match that day pits Santa Clara vs. Texas A&M at 11:30 a.m. (PST), followed by UCLA vs. UConn at 2:00 p.m.
Fox Sport Net will also tape the UCLA/Cal match on Sept. 6 at Drake Stadium, however the date of that broadcast has yet to be determined.
ESPNU's two telecasts on Sept. 10 mark the first live TV matches at Drake Stadium since The Sunshine Network aired UCLA's NCAA Quarterfinal match with Florida back in 2001.
UCLA, which has played on national TV in each of the last three seasons, opens up the 2006 season on the road this Friday against No. 8 Penn State.
