SEASON OPENER -- UCLA will open the 2001 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 when it travels to Tuscaloosa to face the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m CT.
The game will be televised nationally by ESPN. Fox Sports Radio AM 1150 and the Bruin Radio Network broadcasts all games except when there is a conflict with a Los Angeles Dodger game. The Alabama contest will be broadcast on XTRA Sports 690 and the Bruin Radio Network with Chris Roberts and Matt Stevens in the booth.
This begins UCLA's 83rd season of football. The Bruins own a 53-24-5 record in season openers, including wins in the last three. UCLA handed Alabama a 35-24 loss in last year's opener which was played in the Rose Bowl. UCLA is 3-2 in season openers under head coach Bob Toledo.
