Both the Beavers and the Ducks hit .000 as a team in the third and final game of the match. UCLA vs. USC

UCLA leads the all-time series against USC by a 50-38 margin, including a 17-12 record on USC's campus. Last season, USC swept both meetings with a 3-0 win in the Lyon Center on Sept. 21 and a 25-30, 28-30, 30-12, 30-22, 15-11 win in Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 19.

    The Lexus Gauntlet

Friday's match will be the first women's volleyball contest in the year-long Lexus Gauntlet Trophy competition. The Lexus Gauntlet Trophy will be awarded to the institution that wins the most head-to-head competitions in all sports between the schools. Currently the Bruins lead the Trojans in the Lexus Gauntlet standings, having won two of three meetings in men's water polo this season. Head Coach Andy Banachowski

In his 36th season on the Bruin bench, UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski remains one of the top coaches in his profession. On Sept. 1, 2001, in Hawaii, he became the first collegiate women's volleyball coach in history to record 900 career wins, and is just the second collegiate volleyball coach for either gender to reach that milestone. UCLA men's coach Al Scates, for whom Banachowski was a setter during his collegiate career, posted his 1,000th career win in February, 2000. The first women's volleyball coach to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, MA, Banachowski currently has a career record of 931-227 (.804), and has coached the Bruins to six national championships, including three NCAA titles.

    Next Week for the Bruins

UCLA travels to Washington and Washington State next week for a pair of Pac-10 matches. On Friday night, the Bruins will face Washington State at 7 pm for a match that will be televised on a tape-delayed basis on FOX Sports Net. UCLA will then travel to Seattle for a Saturday match at Washington.
