The Bruins took over the first three quarters of the game, scoring four goals in each of those quarters and holding the Anteaters to minimal offensive opportunities. Monique Blanchard scored the first goal of the day for UCLA after two minutes of play. UCLA scored two more times until Robyn Kaake stopped the Bruin run with a goal. Near the end of the first, Irvine was called for a four-meter penalty and Natalie Golda converted the shot, making the score 4-1. In the second quarter, Kelly Rulon scored a Bruin goal after 36 seconds. Kaake came back and converted a four-meter penalty shot for Irvine, to make the score 5-2. From that point, UCLA stepped up the intensity. The team scored eight goals in a row, including two in a row by Rulon in the third quarter. At the end of the third, the score was 12-2. In the fourth, Irvine freshman Jessica Lewis scored twice, leaving a final score of 14-4. For the game, there were five ejections on each side, including a four-meter penalty for each team.
