STANFORD, Calif. - The fourth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team picked up its sixth shutout in a row after a hard fought battle up at Stanford on Sunday, playing to a 0-0 draw with the No. 17 Cardinal following 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods. The Bruins, who defeated No. 9 Cal, 2-0 on Friday, move to 15-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the Pac-10. Stanford is now 8-6-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play.
Bruin goalkeeper Valerie Henderson, who made three saves on the afternoon, moved her goals against average on the season to a miniscule 0.39. It is her seventh shutout of the season and 13th for UCLA as a team.
UCLA has not given up a goal since a 3-2 double-overtime victory against USC back on Oct. 7. The Bruins still control their own destiny in the race for this year's Pac-10 title. UCLA is guaranteed its third conference championship in as many years with a pair of victories over the Arizona schools next weekend at Drake Stadium.
Friday's 7:00 p.m. match with Arizona will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis by Fox Sports Net. Sunday's 1:00 p.m. showdown with Arizona State will be Senior Day for Mora, Oakes and Camille Toney.
