Adams Named to Soccer America's Team of the Week

LOS ANGELES UCLA freshman women's soccer player Danesha Adams earned another honor on Thursday after being selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week.

Adams, a forward from Shaker Heights, Ohio, tallied four goals in a pair of UCLA victories over the weekend. She had both game-winners in wins over San Diego and LMU.

Adams was also named Pac-10 Player of the Week and was named to the Soccer Buzz Team of the Week as well.

(Week 1: Aug. 27-30)

GOALKEEPER
Ashley Phillips (Clemson), fr.
U.S. U-19 pool goalkeeper debuts with 14 saves, facing 40 shots, in Tigers' triumphs at No. 4 Texas (1-0) and No. 11 Texas A&M (4-1), surrendering only goal in final minutes of romp.

DEFENDERS
Betsy Duncan (Western Kentucky), sr.
Scored twice in 3-0 win over Murray State, again in 5-0 rout of Morehead as Lady Toppers started 2-0-0 first time since inaugural season.

Holly Gault (Kansas), sr. Scored lone goal in Jayhawks' win at BYU; part of a backline that shut out UNLV and BYU, surrendering a total of 13 shots, seven on target.

Susan Marschall (Boston University), jr.
Made a goal line stop to preserve 1-0 upset of No. 21 Boston College, then scored in 2-1 victory over Massachusetts, contributing to Terriers' defensive effort that limited UMass to three shots on goal.

Andi Matthews (Northeastern), sr.
Daughter of former New England Patriots linebacker Bill Matthews was MVP of the FAU Kickoff Classic, scoring Huskies' first goal in 2-1 triumph over Florida Atlantic and contributing to shutout of Jacksonville, in which Dolphins were limited to one shot on goal.

MIDFIELDERS
Camie Bybee (Florida State), sr.
Scored one goal and assisted Julia Schnugg on another as Seminoles topped No. 20 Arizona State, 3-2; run into box vs. USC sets up penalty kick in 2-1 victory.

Kim Grodek (Indiana), sr.
All-Big Ten first-teamer involved in every Hoosiers goal, scoring three goals and assisting the other in a 4-0 romp over Marquette and netting both goals in 2-1 triumph over UW Milwaukee to win Milwaukee Cup.

FORWARDS
Danesha Adams (UCLA), fr.
Former youth national-teamer debuts with two goals in 4-0 rout of San Diego, scores two more in 2-1 victory at Westside neighbor Loyola Marymount.

Ali Andrzejewski (Loyola, Md.), jr.
U.S. U-21 veteran, a transfer from Maryland, scores a hat trick in Greyhounds debut, a 3-2 victory over William & Mary.

Katie Thorlakson (Notre Dame), jr.
Canadian U-19 star involved in all five first-half Irish strikes (two goals, three assists) in 7-2 romp over Baylor, set up all three goals in 3-0 victory over Eastern Illinois.

Marcie Ward (Stanford), sr.
2001 All-American, who missed '03 with foot injury, scores twice in first 31 minutes -- the first after just 48 seconds -- as Cardinal spanks No. 15 Utah, 3-0.
