UCLA junior Marcedes Lewis was named this week's John Mackey Tight End of the Week by the Nassau County Sports Commission. The third-year player had a breakout game in the win over Arizona, making six receptions for 99 yards and three touchdowns, tying his career high for receptions and setting new bests for yardage and touchdowns. His touchdowns measured 16, 12 and 18 yards and he also had catches of 23 and 21 yards on scoring drives.
Lewis is on the Watch List for the 2004 John Mackey Award which will be presented on April 11, 2005 at the Nassau County Sports Commission Annual Awards Dinner. The John Mackey award is presented annually to the top Tight End in Division 1-A College Football based on on-field performance, sportsmanship and academics.
