UCLA's Danny Farmer Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
By: UCLA Athletics

May 5, 2000

UCLA senior wide receiver Danny Farmer has been awarded a NCAA postgraduate scholarship. He is one of just 16 football players from Division I schools throughout the nation to be honored with the $5,000 scholarship.

Farmer is the 51st UCLA student-athlete to earn a NCAA postgraduate scholarship or be selected as an alternate. He is the 16th member of the football program to be honored in this manner. UCLA student-athletes were awarded three NCAA postgraduate scholarships in 1997-98 and two in 1998-99. Awards for sports other than football and basketball will be announced in June.

Farmer was a two-sport star during his Bruin career. In football, he helped the Bruins win back-to-back Pac-10 titles in 1997 and 1998 and ranks No.1 in school history for career receiving yards (3,020) and No. 2 in career receptions (159). As a volleyball player, he helped the school win NCAA titles in 1996 and 1998.

To qualify for a NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.000 and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated.
