Five more Bruin seniors have been selected to participate in college football All-Star games to be played over the next two weeks, bringing the total of Bruins in all-star games to seven. It will be one last chance for these seniors to showcase their skills in competition before the NFL Draft on April 24-25.

Defensive linemen Mat Ball and David Tautofi have been invited to play in the Hula Bowl. The game will be played Saturday, January 17 in War Memorial Stadium in Maui, HI. ESPN2 will televise the game beginning at 5 p.m. in Los Angeles.

Mat Ball started all 13 games this past season and made 33 tackles. He was tied for second on the team with 3.0 sacks and totaled 6.0 tackles for loss. Tautofi played at defensive end behind Dave Ball for most of last season and finished with eight tackles, including five solo stops. He made one tackle for loss. Tautofi, from Palolo, HI, attended Kaimuki High School in Honolulu.

Offensive lineman Shane Lehmann has been chosen to play in the Las Vegas All-American Classic to be held in Sam Boyd Stadium on January 17. The game will be televised by College Sports Television beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Defensive linemen Dave Ball and Rodney Leisle are slated to play in the Senior Bowl to be played on January 24 in Mobile, AL. ESPN will televise the contest beginning at 2 p.m. Pacific time.

Dave Ball, the national co-leader in quarterback sacks this past season, earned All-American honors and was selected as the ABC-Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year. He was a finalist for the Nagurski, Rotary Lombardi and Hendricks awards and was voted the Pac-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Ball led the Bruin line with 59 tackles in 2003, including 16.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. He also led the team with five forced fumbles.

Leisle recorded 40 tackles last season, including 3.0 sacks and 6.0 for losses. He tied for fifth on the team with two touchdowns, one on an interception return and one after the recovery of a fumble. He tied for first on the team with three interceptions from his defensive tackle position.

In last week's All-Star game action, linebacker Brandon Chillar and defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti played in the East-West Shrine Game. Chillar was named Defensive MVP, recovering a fumble and returning an interception for a touchdown in the contest that was played on Jan. 10 in San Francisco.
