After a sweep of the Oregon schools last weekend to open the second half of Pac-10 play, the Bruin embark on one of their busiest weeks of the regular season. Friday's game at California will air in Southern California on FOX Sports West at 2 am on Sunday, May 9 and on FOX West 2 on Tuesday, May 11 at 3 pm and on Friday, May 14 at 1 pm.

Earlier this year, the Bruins won a non-conference game against the Huskies on the first day of the 2004 season before dropping both Pac-10 contests in Seattle last month. UCLA has an all-time record of 32-14 against Washington. The Bruins swept the weekend series from California two weeks ago in Westwood to improve to 65-14 all-time against the Golden Bears. Finally, Stanford won a 1-0 pitchers duel at UCLA on April 23, and the Bruins hold a 37-8 all-time record against the Cardinal.

Bruins Sweep Weekend Series in Oregon; Goerl Reaches 1,000 Career K's
UCLA posted three victories last weekend against Oregon and Oregon State to climb above .500 in Pac-10 play for the first time this season. The weekend opened with senior Keira Goerl pitching a two-hit shutout against Oregon in Eugene. UCLA capitalized on three hits in the fourth inning, including solo home runs by freshmen Jodie Legaspi and Lisa Dodd en route to the 2-0 win. Goerl struck out nine batters in the game, leaving her with 995 K's in her Bruin career.

On Saturday at Oregon State, Dodd stepped into the circle and tossed a one-hit shutout as the Bruins manufactured two runs in the top of the sixth inning to win 2-0, with Legaspi again providing the game-winning RBI.

The weekend set concluded on Sunday afternoon in Corvallis, as UCLA downed Oregon State by a 3-1 score. After the Beavers scored an unearned run in the bottom of the second inning, the teams traded zeroes to the top of the seventh inning when the Bruins put together a three-run rally, aided by two hits, two sacrifice flies and a pair of OSU errors. With the Bruins leading in the bottom of the seventh, Goerl stepped back into the circle, retired the first two batters by a ground out and a pop fly before making OSU's Alana Mendoza the 1,000th strike out victim of her UCLA career to end the game. Goerl is the first Bruin and 25th player in NCAA Division I history to reach that milestone. She also has 119 career wins, ranking tied for seventh on the NCAA's all-time list.
