UCLA women's soccer players Staci Duncan (San Jose/Archbishop Mitty HS) and Venus James (Oakland/Bishop O'Dowd HS) represented the United States in the inaugural US Youth Soccer adidas Cup in Florida from Feb. 14-20. The tournament brought together some of the best youth players in the United States and the world, including; China, Germany, Sweden and Japan.
Duncan and James were members of the US Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) Select Under-19 Team that went 3-1 in the tournament. Duncan recorded two goals and an assist in the tournament, scoring the lone goal in the win over the U.S. U-16 Girls National team and a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win over the U-18 German National team. The USYSA U-19 team also recorded a 2-1 win over Japan, yet fell to the U-18 Women's National team 1-2.
