LOS ANGELES - The No. 11 UCLA women's tennis team completed its sweep of the Arizona schools Saturday, notching a 6-1 victory over the visiting Arizona Wildcats at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA (8-0) defeated No. 7 Arizona State, 4-3 on Friday.
In one of its more dominating performances of the season, UCLA swept all three doubles matches before taking five of six singles matches in straight sets. As usual, UCLA's one-two punch of Megan Bradley and Sara Walker turned in impressive showings, as Bradley, ranked No. 5 in the nation, defeated No. 27 Maja Mlakar, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. In the No. 2 spot, No. 4 Walker made quick work of No. 90 Debbie Larocque, winning 6-1, 6-1.
Other Bruins registering singles victories included, Petya Marinova, Lauren Fisher and Catherine Hawley. Arizona's lone point on the day came at No. 4 singles where Dianne Hollands defeated UCLA's Sarah Gregg, 6-2, 6-0.
The Bruins will next be in action a week from today when they travel to Austin, Texas for a meeting with the No. 9 Texas Longhorns.
