UCLA offensive guard Chris Joseph has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 football team. Joseph, a true sophomore, has earned a 4.0 grade point average. His name will now appear on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
The undeclared major made his first career start this season in the opener at San Diego State. He also started in games against Rice, Oklahoma, Washington and California. Against California, Joseph suffered an injury to his left knee in the first quarter and was forced to undergo season-ending knee surgery a few weeks later. The Bruins rushed for at least 170 yards in his starts against San Diego State (191), Rice (253) and California (170). The team threw for over 300 yards in games against Rice (325) and Oklahoma (314).
