Senior forward Zakiya Bywaters (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho HS) of the UCLA women's soccer was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 24-Oct. 1.
Bywaters, also this week's Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, scored three goals in two games as UCLA won a pair of road games at the Arizona schools to remain undefeated on the year at 9-0-2. Bywaters was efficient in her 102 total minutes of action, taking six shots, five of which were on goal, and scoring three times. Both of her goals were game-winners. In the 2-1 win at Arizona, Bywaters scored both of UCLA's goals, striking first in the seventh minute and then again in the 48th. She made the most out of her 27 minutes of play during the 4-1 victory at Arizona State, scoring the game-winner at 27:00. Bywaters leads the Pac-12 in scoring with nine goals and 20 points, both career-highs, and is tied for the conference lead with four game-winning goals.
This is Bywaters' first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
