MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Freshman Nirra Fields scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead No. 17/18 UCLA to a 77-46 win at Pepperdine on Friday night at Firestone Fieldhouse.
In addition to her first career double-double, Fields added career-highs in assists (six) and steals (six).
Atonye Nyingifa had a season-high 12 rebounds to go with eight points while Markel Walker had 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Bruins, which improved to 8-2 on the year and 5-0 in games away from home (3-0 on the road).
UCLA led 34-17 at halftime and never trailed in the game. UCLA had 34 points off 24 Pepperdine turnovers and got 44 points from its bench. The Bruins shot 44 percent from the field for the game, while the Waves shot 34.7 percent.
UCLA also outrebounded the Waves, 52-28, the Bruins' third consecutive game with a +16-rebound advantage. The Bruins were able to do that without the services of its leading rebounder, Alyssia Brewer, who left the game after three minutes of action with a sprained ankle and never returned.
Jade McNorton led the Waves (3-8) with 12 points. She was the only Wave to reach double figures. Kelsey Patrick and Ea Shoushtari led the Waves with five rebounds apiece.
The Bruins wrap up their non-conference slate when they return to action on Dec. 31 with a 1:00 p.m. clash with Saint Joseph's in Pauley Pavilion.
