LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Rachael Kidder had a match-high 23 kills, while senior Dicey McGraw added 11 kills, as the 11th-ranked Bruins defeated Oregon State in four sets on Friday at Pauley Pavilion. Set scores were 25-13, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14.

The Bruins improve to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in Pac-10 play, while the Beavers fall to 8-14 and 1-7 in league action.

Kidder hit .341 in 41 attempts for her second career match with 20-plus kills and added six digs and two aces. Freshman Mariana Aquino had a perfect evening with a career-high seven kills and no errors in 14 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage, adding a team-best five blocks. In the backcourt, junior Lainey Gera (17) and sophomore Bojana Todorovic (11) each had double figures in digs. The Bruins hit .278 for the match.

The Bruins never trailed in the first set in posting a 25-13 victory. UCLA scored seven of the first 10 points on kills from Aquino, Kidder and junior Katie Camp and four Oregon State errors. After a Beaver sideout, Kidder produced a kill and an ace to make it 9-4. UCLA's lead remained between three and five until the home squad made a late run to blow it open.

Leading 17-12, the Bruins received back-to-back kills from McGraw, one from Aquino and another by McGraw to go up 21-12. Oregon State sided out the next point, but UCLA netted the final four on a kill by Aquino, a combo block from Aquino and freshman Kelly Reeves, an OSU attack error and an ace by junior Lauren Van Orden to win it by a dozen. Aquino, Kidder and McGraw each had four kills in the opener, as the Bruins out-hit the Beavers .375 to .000.

The Beavers scored the first point of the second, but UCLA came back with five of the next six and led for the rest of the set. Reeves had two kills and a block during the opening run, while Camp and McGraw also had kills. Oregon State tied it up at five and seven, but three in a row on a Beaver service error, a Kidder ace and a McGraw stuff block put the Bruins back up by three at 10-7. The Bruins' biggest lead of the set was four on several occasions.

Oregon State stayed within reach and tied the score again at 17, but the Bruins responded with four straight on consecutive kills by McGraw, an ace from Gera and a Beaver attack error to go up 21-17. The Beavers closed to within one at 23-22 and 24-23, but a Kidder kill on the Bruins' second set point gave the home squad a 25-23 win. McGraw had a team-best five kills in the second, Kidder added four and Reeves posted three. The Bruins out-hit the Beavers .139 to .114.

The Beavers led for most of the third set, jumping out to a quick 4-1 advantage. The Bruins came back with the next three on two kills from Kidder and a bad set by Oregon State. The teams sided out the next nine points, before a kill from Reeves and an OSU attack error gave the Bruins their first lead of the set at 10-9.

The Bruins still led at 11-10, but the Beavers rebounded with six of the next seven to take a 16-12 advantage. Oregon State would lead for the rest of the set. UCLA cut its deficit to within one at 21-20, but could not even the score, as the teams sided out the final seven points to give the Beavers a 25-23 victory. Kidder had 11 of the Bruins' 15 kills in the third, as the Bruins were out-hit .382 to .189.

UCLA dropped the first point of the fourth, but came back with the next nine and ran away with the set. A kill by Todorovic, an OSU attack error and a McGraw ace gave the Bruins a 3-1 edge. An Aquino/Todorovic combo block, a Todorovic kill and a Beaver attack error accounted for the next three points to make it 6-1, while an Aquino kill and back-to-back kills from Kidder gave the Bruins a 9-1 lead.

The Beavers got to within five at 11-6, but the Bruins scored the next three on two kills from Camp and a Camp/Van Orden combo block to make it 14-6. UCLA saw its lead get to double figures for the first time following a 3-0 mini-run to make it 20-10. The Bruins' largest lead of the set was 11 and they won the match on an Oregon State attack error to take the set 25-14. Kidder and Todorovic each had four kills in the fourth, as the Bruins out-hit the Beavers .464 to .094.
