Six Bruins Receive Honors From Top Drawer Soccer

Six UCLA men's soccer players were honored by Top Drawer Soccer in the internet site's year-end awards. Sophomore midfielder Sal Zizzo was named to the National Team of the Season (First Team), while freshmen Kyle Nakazawa, Michael Stephens, David Estrada, Brian Perk and Chance Myers were selected to the All-Rookie Team.

Zizzo, a midfielder from San Diego, Calif., finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in the Pac-10 with eight assists. He has also scored two goals, and his 12 points rank third on the UCLA team and 10th in the conference. Zizzo, last year's Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, was named to the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Watch List in the pre-season.

First-team All-Rookie team members were Nakazawa, Stephens and Estrada. Nakazawa, a midfielder from Palos Verdes Estates, has started every game for the Bruins, totaling three goals with four assists for 10 points. Stephens, a midfielder from Naperville, Ill. has started in 17 consecutive games and played in all 19. He has scored one goal with two assists on the year. Estrada, a forward from Salinas, Calif. leads UCLA in scoring with eight goals and 19 points. He ranks third in the Pac-10 in goals scored and points and is the highest-scoring freshman in the conference. Estrada has scored seven goals in UCLA's last eight games and is currently on a four-game scoring streak.

Perk, a goalkeeper from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. (Edison Academic Center), and Myers, a defender from Thousand Oaks, Calif. (Thousand Oaks HS), received second-team honors. Perk has played and started in seven games between the pipes, compiling a goals against average of 1.27 and a 3-1-3 overall record. Myers has played in 16 games with five starts and has recorded three assists on the year.
