Sophomore guard/forward Josh Shipp (Los Angeles, Calif./Fairfax HS) of the UCLA men's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 18-24).
Shipp led the top-ranked Bruins to a pair of blowout victories last week, each time leading the Bruins in scoring with 18 points. In a 75-61 win over Sam Houston State on Dec. 19, Shipp added five rebounds to go along with the 18 points. He shot 5-of-8 from the field and made all eight of his free-throw attempts. In the 92-55 victory over Michigan on Dec. 23, he again scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. He also chipped in three boards, two assists and two steals against the Wolverines. For the week, Shipp averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 66.7% (12-of-18) from the floor and 100 percent (11-of-11) from the charity stripe.
This is Shipp's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.
