LOS ANGELES - Senior Darren Collison of the UCLA men's basketball team has been named to The Associated Press' preseason All-America team for the second consecutive season, as announced Monday by the AP.
Collison is joined on the preseason All-America roster by North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough, Davidson guard Stephen Curry, Notre Dame forward Luke Harangody and Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin.
Collison, who has helped lead the Bruins to three consecutive Final Fours, collected 46 votes as a preseason All-America selection. Hansbrough earned 72 votes as a unanimous selection.
Both Collison and Hansbrough are the only repeat selections from last fall's AP preseason All-America roster. The previous repeat selection was Michigan State guard Mateen Cleaves in 1999-2000.
Collison averaged 15.4 points and 3.5 assists last season, helping lead UCLA to its third consecutive Pac-10 regular-season title and third straight trip to the Final Four.
UCLA freshman guard Jrue Holliday was one of 19 other players to earn votes in the selection process.
The UCLA men's basketball team hosts an exhibition game against Cal Baptist on Monday, Nov. 3. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
