Reeves Concludes Play at Women's Junior World Championship

LIMA, Peru - UCLA sophomore and Team USA captain Kelly Reeves finished up play at the FIVB Women's Junior World Championship on Sunday and concluded the tournament ranked seventh among all players in points scored.

Reeves had 115 points, which was second on Team USA, on 97 kills, nine blocks and nine service aces. She led the U.S. and was tied for 15th in the tournament in aces and was second on the squad in kills (sixth in the tournament) and digs with 69 (18th in the tournament).

Reeves led or was tied for the team lead in kills in a match in three of eight contests. She had double figures in kills six times, double figures in digs four times and three double-doubles.

After winning its first four matches of the tournament, the Red, White and Blue fell in its final four contests, including both in the medal round.

The U.S. lost a hard-fought match to Brazil in the semifinals on Saturday in a battle of the top two countries coming into the tournament. Down 2-0, Team USA won sets three and four before falling 16-14 in the fifth. Reeves had 14 kills, seven digs and a block versus Brazil.

On Sunday, Team USA lost to China in four sets in the third-place match. Reeves had 13 kills, seven digs, a block and an ace.

Reeves now returns to her duties with the UCLA women's volleyball team, as preseason practice starts up on Monday, Aug. 8.
