LOS ANGELES - Both the UCLA men's and women's tennis teams head to individual tournaments this week in preparation for the dual-match season, which is set to kick off in the next few weeks.
Eight UCLA men's players will be competing just up the road in Thousand Oaks, Calif., as the Bruins are one of four teams competing at the 2011 Sherwood Collegiate Cup at the Sherwood Country Club. He is also seeded No. 4 in doubles with partner Clay Thompson. The tournament begins on Friday and concludes on Monday.
The Bruin men open up the 2012 dual-match season at home on Jan. 20 against BYU.
On the women's side, UCLA is sending seven players to Las Vegas for the Freeman Memorial Championships at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex. Freshman Robin Anderson is seeded No. 2 in the main singles draw. She is also seeded No. 3 with Skylar Morton in the main doubles draw. The tournament is scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday.
