Senior outside hitter Kaitlin Sather (Santa Rosa, CA/Maria Carrillo HS) of the UCLA women's volleyball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5-11.
Sather led the 16th-ranked Bruins with a season-high 15 kills, adding 15 digs for her seventh double-double of the year, as UCLA swept USC on Friday for its fourth straight home victory against the Trojans. She had an impressive first set against the Trojans, recording five kills and only one error in 13 swings (.308 hitting percentage) to go along with nine digs. In the second set, Sather had four kills and four digs, adding three blocks. To complete the sweep, she had a team-best six kills in the third set with one error in 10 attacks (.500 percentage).Sather is tied for the team lead in double-doubles and second with 10 double-figure digs matches and nine double-figure kills contests. She is also second with 2.54 kills per set and 2.88 digs per set.
This is Sather's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of her career.
