LONG BEACH/HOUSTON - The Bruins posted four NCAA B qualifying times on Friday at the Arena Invitational, as junior Ting Quah qualified in the 100 Butterfly and 200 Freestyle, junior Anna Senko in the 400 Individual Medley and freshman Katie Kinnear in the 100 Backstroke.

The UCLA diving team also completed its second day of competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston. Sophomore Emma Ivory-Ganja was the lone Bruin of five divers to qualify for the final. Ivory-Ganja totaled a score of 276.05 and was fifth in the preliminaries, posting a 271.10 mark in the final to place eighth. While not qualifying for the Top 12, freshman Maggie Denison posted a season-best total of 238.80 in the prelims.

In Long Beach at the Arena Invite, the Bruins began the evening session with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, as the quartet of Kinnear, sophomores Jessica Khojasteh and Noelle Tarazona and junior Kathryn Murphy swam a time of 1:41.12.

Following that in the 400 IM, Senko shaved more than four seconds off her preliminary time to post a 4:16.44 mark in the final. She finished third in the championship final and the time qualified for the NCAA B standard.

There were four more season bests for the Bruins in the evening portion of the 400 IM. Senior Karoline Sanderud was a second better than her prelim (4:22.48), freshman Megan Rankin was nearly two seconds better (4:23.46), freshman Arlyn Upshaw was nearly eight seconds better in the final (4:21.88) and freshman Lexy Troup shaved nearly six seconds off her morning time (4:26.56).

Quah, after setting a B standard during the preliminaries of the 100 Butterfly with a time of 54.38 (third-best overall time), swam a shade faster in the final. She went 53.95 and finished fourth in the championship final. Senior Molly Fitzgerald had a career-best mark of 55.49 in the 100 Fly prelims, while freshman Madison Applegate posted a season-best 54.91 in the consolation final.

Quah had the fifth-best qualifying time in the 200 Freestyle preliminaries in the morning, but would skip the final to rest up for the opening leg of the evening-ending 800 Free Relay. Murphy swam a season-best 1:51.73 in the final.

The 100 Breaststoke saw sophomore Taylor Carlson swim a season-best time of 1:03.93 in the morning and finish eighth in the final. However, Khojasteh, who qualified for the consolation final, bettered her teammate's time at 1:03.17. The season-best mark was tops in the consolation race and would have been fifth best in the final.

The second-to-last event was the 100 Backstroke and Kinnear posted a B standard of 54.67 (season best) in the consolation final. Also posting season bests in the evening were senior Andrea Reigel (55.51) and junior Jesse Bergman (56.67).

The 800 Freestyle Relay wrapped up day two in Long Beach and Quah got the team off to a great start with a leadoff mark of 1:47.71, which qualified for the NCAA B standard. Senko, senior Laurence Delisle and Tarazona completed the relay in a time of 7:16.64 to finish third in the race.
