LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked Bruins set a school record with their fifth-straight win by mercy rule, defeating UC Davis 8-0 in six innings on Saturday at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at Easton Stadium. Senior Julie Burney and sophomore Dani Yudin hit home runs, while senior Megan Langenfeld pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

The Bruins face Cal State Northridge at 6:40 p.m. in their second game of the night.

UCLA scored twice in the bottom of the first. Freshman B.B. Bates reached on an infield single to open the inning and stole second. Junior Monica Harrison walked, and one out later, Langenfeld singled to right to plate Bates and make it 1-0. After a walk to junior GiOnna DiSalvatore loaded the bases, sophomore Samantha Camuso singled to right to bring home Harrison and put the Bruins up 2-0.

The Bruins broke it open with five in the third. Monica Harrison and sophomore Andrea Harrison each singled to start the inning, and one out later, a single up the middle by DiSalvatore scored the elder Harrison to make it 3-0. One out later, Burney launched her third home run of the season to left-center to bring the lead to 6-0 and Yudin made it back-to-back jacks with her first of the year to right-center to make it 7-0.

UCLA brought out the mercy rule with a run in the sixth. Senior Kaila Shull led off with a walk and was pinch-run for by junior Amy Crawford. One out later, Monica Harrison doubled to left-center to put a pair of runners in scoring position and Andrea Harrison ended things with a single to right to score Crawford and give the Bruins an 8-0 victory.

Langenfeld allowed only three hits and a walk to improve to 2-1 on the season. She fanned a pair in the first and the third. Langenfeld and both Harrisons had a pair of hits, as the Bruins had 11 as a team.
