Junior setter Nellie Spicer (Barrington, IL/Barrington HS) of the UCLA women's volleyball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 1-7.
Spicer posted a double-double for the sixth-straight match on Friday against fourth-ranked USC, recording 49 assists and 10 digs in leading the No. 5 Bruins to a four-game victory. Spicer surpassed the 3,800-assist mark for her career against the Trojans and now has 3,820 at UCLA. Spicer added five blocks, which tied a season-high. The junior has nine double-doubles on the season and 37 for her career. She leads the team and is third in the Pac-10 at 12.70 assists per game and third on the team with 2.94 digs per game.
This is Spicer's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
