Pole Vaulters Post Big Results In Reno

Past and present Bruin pole vaulters competed over the weekend at the annual Pole Vault Summit in Reno and posted some very impressive performances.

Leading the way was sophomore Mike Woepse, who cleared a lifetime-best of 17-8.50 to finish second overall. That mark moves him into the UCLA all-time top-10 for the first time in his career. It is tied for 10th in UCLA history.

Redshirt freshman Scott Cook and newcomer Mark Sakioka each cleared 16-3, which equals both of their lifetime-bests from high school.

Alums Dustin DeLeo and Bobby Tally were also competing on the men's side. DeLeo cleared 17-3, while Tally cleared 16-7.

On the women's side, senior Tori Anthony led the way as she vaulted 13-7. Junior Allison Koressel cleared 13-1, while newcomers Kayla Mallett (12-2) and Stevie Kennedy-Gold (11-9) were also in action.

Alums Tori Pena and Katy Viuf were also competing. Pena had a huge day as she broke her own Irish National record with a mark of 14-7. Viuf also had a big clearances, getting over 14-2.

The indoor season continues this weekend as the Bruins compete in Seattle, WA at the UW Invite and Pullman, WA for the Cougar Invite.
