This past Tuesday, UCLA tailback Derrick Coleman had some special guests at football practice.
Earlier this month, Ashley Armstrong, UCLA's Director of Student-Athlete Development, received an email from the mother of two hard-of-hearing children. Killie Knobel's five-year-old son Mason was developing a love for football but Killi was corncerned about the issues associated with Mason's hearing problems. She had heard about Coleman, who is hard of hearing, and emailed Armstrong about the possibility of having a short meeting with Coleman.
On Tuesday, the Knobel family came to watch UCLA's football practice and had the opportunity following practice to visit with Coleman, who has spoken with numerous youngsters, both on and off campus, during his time at UCLA. Head coach Rick Neuheisel also stopped by to meet Mason and his family.
Here is a BruinTV video on the meeting between the Knobel Family and Coleman.
