LOS ANGELES - Junior Ting Quah and freshman Katie Kinnear each won a pair of races, and junior Paulina Guzman took both diving events, as the UCLA swimming and diving teams defeated Oregon State (197-92), UC Santa Barbara (185-110) and Utah (211-83) in a quad meet on Friday at Spieker Aquatics Center.

The meet got off to a good start for the Bruins, winning the 200 Medley Relay with the quartet of Kinnear, sophomores Jessica Khojasteh and Noelle Tarazona and junior Kathryn Murphy in a time of 1:42.58.

UCLA then won the next three individual events. Back-to-back, 1-2 finishes in the 1000 Freestyle (freshman Megan Rankin, 10:03.04 and junior Lauren Baker, 10:07.52) and the 200 Freestyle (Quah, 1:49.39 and Murphy, 1:52.40), as well as a win from Kinnear in the 100 Backstroke (56.12), put the Bruins up big. Senior Laurence Delisle took the second-best time in the 100 Back, winning the B heat at 56.66.

UC Santa Barbara won the 100 Breaststroke, but the Bruins took the next four events. Tarazona (2:00.80) led a 1-2 finish in the 200 Butterfly with senior Stephanie Christofferson (2:02.95), as junior Anna Senko took the second-best time overall and tops in the B heat at 2:01.52. Junior Cynthia Fascella (23.63) and Kinnear (23.96) went 1-2 in the 50 Freestyle.

Guzman won the first diving event of the afternoon, the One-Meter, with a point total of 267.95, which was followed by another 1-2 finish in the 100 Freestyle with Murphy (50.84) and Fascella (51.78). Quah actually had the best time in the race, swimming a 50.81 to lead the B heat.

UCSB won the 200 Backstroke and 200 Breaststroke, while Oregon State took the 500 Freestyle. Kinnear's second win of the day in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 55.41 broke the winless streak. Guzman won her second diving event of the meet, this time the Three-Meter, with 287.45 points, as the Bruins went 1-2-3 with sophomore Emma Ivory-Ganja (272.85) and senior Maggy Boyd (258.50).

Senko claimed the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:02.55 in the second-to-last event. In the final event, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the best time came from the quartet of Fascella, Khojasteh, Murphy and sophomore Taylor Carlson with a mark of 3:27.89.

The Bruin swimming team returns to the pool on Nov. 2 when they host a tri-meet with Uc Davis and Washington State at Spieker Aquatics Center at 1 p.m. The UcLA diving squad heads to the USC Trojan Invitational on Nov. 2 and 3.
