Junior forward Sydney Leroux (Vancouver, BC/Horizon HS) of the UCLA women's soccer team was selected as the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Aug. 16-22, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Leroux became the first player in school history to score four goals twice in her career, as she found the back of the net four times in UCLA's 7-0 season-opening win over Cal Poly on Sunday. Leroux, who led the team in scoring last year as a sophomore, notched a hat trick in the first half, scoring in the 21st, 39th and 41st minutes. She capped the scoring for UCLA in the 84th minute. Her other four-goal performance came in the team's 7-1 victory over Boise State in last year's NCAA First Round.
She was also selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week, and was named to the team of the week by both Top Drawer Soccer and CollegeSoccer360.com.
