Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Senior Dani Yudin drove in a career-high six runs, while senior Andrea Harrison hit a pair of home runs and had four RBI, as every Bruin starter had at least two hits in a 24-2 victory at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday at Smith Field.

The Bruins improve to 5-0 on the year, while the Lions fall to 4-2.

Harrison, Yudin, senior Katie Schroeder, junior B.B. Bates and freshman Stephany LaRosa all had three hits, while seniors Samantha Camuso and Marti Reed, sophomore Kellie Fox and freshman Ally Carda each recorded two hits. Bates, Camuso, Carda, Fox, Reed and Schroeder all drove in two runs. Carda earned her third win of the season, striking out five and giving up two runs, three hits and three walks in five innings.

The 24 runs were the second most for a single-game in UCLA history (27 vs. Santa Clara, 2008). The 22-run win was the second-best margin of victory (26 vs. Santa Clara) and the 10-run second inning marked the seventh time the Bruins have ever scored double digits in a single frame.

For the fifth game in a row, UCLA scored in its first at-bat. Schroeder led off with a double to right-center and moved to third on a single to left by Fox. One batter later, Bates doubled down the left-field line to plate Schroeder with the game's first run.

The Lions came back with a pair of runs on one swing in the bottom of the first, as Kelly Sarginson homered to left with Sam Fischer aboard to make it 2-1 LMU.

It was all UCLA after that though, as the visitors scored 23 unanswered runs. Ten runs came across in the second. Yudin led off with a walk and was pinch-run for by sophomore Devon Lindvall, who stole second and moved to third when LaRosa reached on an error by LMU third baseman Skylar Segura, with LaRosa taking second. Reed followed with a single up the middle to bring in both runners to make it 3-2. A Carda single to left moved Reed to second, and one out later, Fox singled up the middle to bring in Reed to make it 4-2, as Carda took third and scored on the next play when Harrison grounded out to short for the Bruins' fifth run.

After Fox moved to second on a stolen base and to third on a wild pitch, Bates singled to right to score Fox to make it 6-2. A Camuso double down the right-field line plated Bates with run seven, which was followed by Yudin drawing a walk and Camuso moving to third on a wild pitch. LaRosa singled to left-center to score Camuso to make it 8-2. A Reed walk loaded the bases and everyone moved up a base on a wild pitch, as Yudin scored the ninth run. After a free pass to Carda reloaded the bases, Schroeder singled up the middle to score LaRosa and Reed to make it 11-2.

The Bruins added nine more in the third. Singles by Harrison and Bates opened the inning, with Camuso doubling to right-center to bring home Harrison to make it 12-2. Yudin followed with a homer to right, her second of the season, to increase the lead to 15-2. LaRosa then singled to center, and one out later, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to right-center by Carda to make it 16-2. With freshman Tara Mueller running for Carda, Schroeder doubled to left-center to put a pair in scoring position and a sacrifice fly by Fox plated Mueller to make it 17-2.

Harrison followed with her first homer of the game and second of the season to left-center to up the lead to 19-2. After walks to sophomore Talee Snow and Camuso, Yudin singled up the middle to bring in Snow to get the Bruins' their 20th run.

After a scoreless fourth, the Bruins finished up their scoring with four in the fifth. Harrison hit her second homer of the game and third of the season to center to start off the inning. Snow followed with a single to right, sophomore Jessica Hall doubled to left and both came home on a single up the middle by Yudin to make it 23-2. Back-to-back singles by LaRosa and Reed loaded the bases and run number 24 came home on a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Carda that scored freshman pinch-runner Kaelin Sprawls.

The Bruins continue their busy week on Wednesday at Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m. Gametracker will be available at UCLABruins.com.
