The UCLA women's soccer team (3-0, ranked No. 1 by Soccer America, No. 2 by the NSCAA) hosts Wisconsin (3-0, ranked No. 11 by Soccer America, No. 14 by the NSCAA) at Drake Stadium on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:00 pm.
Friday night's game will be uclabruins.com.
This will be the second matchup in history between UCLA and Wisconsin. The Bruins won the first in 2010 in Madison, 1-0, behind a 56th-minute goal by Jenna Richmond. Other current Bruins who played in that game include Zakiya Bywaters, Chelsea Cline, and Chelsea Braun.
The Bruins are coming off a pair of 2-0 victories last week. The first came at Fresno State on Aug. 24, with Cline having a hand in both goals, assisting on Abby Dahlkemper's first-half goal and scoring on her own in the second half. Against Illinois on Aug. 26, Bywaters and Ally Courtnall scored the goals in the second half. Katelyn Rowland had the shutout in both games.
Dahlkemper, a sophomore defender, was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and selected to the Soccer America team of the Week after scoring the game-winner against Fresno State and adding an assist in the shutout win over the 22nd-ranked Illini. She contributed to a defensive unit that allowed just four shots (one shot on goal) in Friday's 2-0 victory over Fresno State. Her assist on Sunday sparked the first of two second-half goals in the 2-0 win over the Illini.
Courtnall, also a sophomore defender, earned Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honors after her standout work in the back during both games and her goal against Illinois.
Additionally, Cline was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after tallying a goal and two assists in the two games.
